Was Jesus Out Of Line?

In today's world, it's not easy being a Christian. We're being attacked on all fronts. The atheists are trying to brainwash our children with their pseudo science mumbo jumbo about evolution, string theory and "proof" that Earth is over 4.5 Billion years old. We're also battling Islamo Fascists, Psychotic Scientologists and Grim-Faced Hindus, not to mention the Despicable Baptists.

Christmas time (from December 1 to December 31) usually provides a much needed break from all our worries. We bask in the goodness of Christmas sales and doorcrashers, Christmas trees and mistletoe, not to be confused with cameltoe. Christians are so generous that we even allow non believers to purchase Christmas presents at a discounted price. When is the last time you saw a Jew provide a discount without expecting something in return? Only Jesus, who handed out fish and bread to the poor, was so generous and quite frankly, there's some debate as to whether he actually was Jewish but since it's Christmas time I'll let the Jews claim this good deed.

However, to add to our mounting problems, we are now facing another battle; passages found in The Bible. Every true Christian believes that every passage in the Bible must be interpreted literally and this is precisely why many of us are concerned about passages that can only be interpreted as anti Christian, Communist propaganda.

While Christian leaders such as George W. Bush are defending Christianity against an assortment of enemies, we are forced to expose ourselves to shocking passages such as this one:

Matthew 19:24

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

At first glance, one may think that this quote was taken out of context but sadly the rest of the chapter that this passage was taken from is even worse. It's shocking to think that Jesus actually thought that way. Perhaps he didn't know that one day we would face a plethora of enemies.

It's clear that obtaining power and wealth is the key to world domination. Those who control the world decide which religion will reign supreme and just like Tony Montana said, "In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women."

This passage goes against what Christians believe in. We are waging these wars to protect the words of our Lord and to ensure that our passage to heaven remains unobstructed. Without wealth we simply can not compete with the evil doers.

It would be easy to rewrite The Bible and strike out that entire chapter but alas, we are Christians and we refuse to rewrite history. However, when we quote this particular passage in Bible class, we then proceed to wink to the group.

We aren't sure what Jesus really meant when he said that but we will continue to struggle with the meaning of this passage until we can figure out exactly what he was trying to tell us.

What you need to remember is

What you need to remember is Jesus, who is fully God Himself, expected, and expects, Christianity to remain a simple faith. Man has added so many useless doctrines and tacked them onto Christianity it's sad. Man distorts scriptures to his own whim, taking them out of context.

"By your fruits shall you know them..."

Here is how to judge if a person is truly a Christian:

1. Loves God with all his heart, mind, body, and soul
2. Loves his neighbor as himself

It's that easy. If people are giving to the poor, helping the elderly, they are not really Christians. Christ Himself was all about hanging out with the poor, the destitute, the sick, the dying. He cared enough, after all, to die for all our sins. People claim alot of things. Actions always speak louder than words.

Why believe SOME and not ALL?

I don't understand your problem here in believing the word of God to be true. You say you believe everything the Bible says, literally, yet the parts you don't wish to believe in are somehow winked at?

Matthew 19:24
"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Notice the word "again" in there. He had to tell this multiple times. How many times will Jesus have to tell you this to get it through your skull and into your heart?

Jesus doesn't like money, power and wealth. It is the route to all evil. Give up your money. Turn the other cheek. The meek shall inherit the earth. STOP BUYING CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. Give food to the poor. Clothes to the naked. Wash another man's feet. Do these acts and you will never have to worry about the powerful and wealthy enforcing their religion on you. Christianity is not something you passively believe in... you must live it to be a true Christian.

I don't want to insinuate anything, but it worries me that you ignore this idea that is spread throughout the Bible, not just this particular passage. I worry that you talk about presents and sales at Christmas time when this is not what the holiday should be about at all to us Christians. You may be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Baseless accusations are the work of the Devil

I resent being called a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you would have taken the time to read previous articles on this Website you would have realized that Harry Nads is a compassionate man who is serious about combating communism and all things evil.

How can you say that Christmas is not a time to give presents? Which communist has brainwashed you? If you have truly read the Bible you will know that Jesus was all about giving. In fact, if more people believed in the act of giving back in the day, then Jesus would have received more presents and perhaps would have come to learn that obtaining wealth is not a bad thing, but I digress.

I advise you to get into the Christmas spirit and support both Christianity and our economy by purchasing items. Unless you want to cause unemployment, get out their and spend. Hoarding or simply giving away money aimlessly is not how our society was built.

Communism?

Honestly, I can't tell if there is sarcasm in this or not. Are you a troll trying to undermine Christian values?
You're right, I haven't read any of the authors previous posts and that was probably my fault in questioning his motives without better knowledge of his real attitudes. This whole post might have been written by an atheist tongue in cheek, how am I to know?

I find it funny that you bring up political topics in this religious discussion. What does communism have to do with Christ and a celebration of his birth or religion over all? What do presents have to do with the birth of Christ? Is it to remember the 3 kings bringing gifts to the baby Jesus? Is that why all the stores are flooded with Christians over-spending wanting that iPhone or HD-DVD player and getting into enormous credit card debt. Is it a surprise that this attitude by Americans has led to the largest deficit ever... and it just grows? Could this over consumerism have lead to the housing market bubble popping? Is this what Jesus was warning everyone about? Greed, consumerism and eventually the raping of our mother earth?

I don't mind gift giving at all, but the spirit of this holiday no longer revolves around Jesus Christ, it revolves around Santa Clause and you just seem to be spreading that shift with your ideas of rampant consumerism.

I do worry about anyone that makes such wild accusations as commie brainwashing, especially when they consider themselves a Christian. I especially am concerned when you use the Bush-style attitude to label forms of government like communism inherently "evil". I think Jesus would have like socialism and denounced capitalism. Huh, a form of government that tries to keep all citizens equal vs a form of government that prizes money over everything else. I even think Jesus has more respect for a religious government (like Iran or China) vs a greedy capitalist society.

Maybe my Christian values are not the same as yours. I can respect that.

Sharing and giving is the key

Dear Sir,

Since you are a Christian I will attempt to be civil even though some of your statements are both startling and negative. Let me begin by requesting that you read my previous articles if you're still unsure what my "read attitudes" are. Also, please do not insinuate that I am an atheist. That's a low blow.

The act of granting gifts certainly does come from Jesus receiving expensive gifts while in the manger. As Christians, it's our duty to honour this tradition by showering fellow Christians with gifts. As for your remark about Santa Claus, what's wrong with honouring good old St. Nick? It seems to me that you think like Stalin - all work and no play.

Finally, how dare you attempt to put thoughts into Jesus's mind? How dare you imply that Jesus would favour socialism over capitalism? What you posted is blasphemy. I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that Jesus would definitely scoff at socialism and embrace capitalism and the freedom that comes with this system.

You go too far by lumping in the evil doers in Iran and China (who are trying to poison the world) with those in camp Jesus. I don't know what your motives are but they appear sinister.

Please do not post such venom on this Website again.

WOW

OMG I can't believe what I am reading. I wish we were in person to discuss this face to face as comments on the internet are hard to really communicate through.
I'm going to take this discussion to my priest and see what he says about it. Maybe I'm all wrong here, but I think you are way out of line regarding Christianity... at least my view of Christianity. If you are right, and these are the true views of Christ, well, I have a real problem with my religion then.
I hold no belief that Iran and China are agents of evil set to poison the world. I find this HIGHLY offensive and ignorant and unChristian-like in so many ways. Where do you get this information from? Bushco and his evangelical Christian attitudes (which by the way I find to be completely disgraceful calling themselves Christians and then raining bombs in the name of mass murder... thou shalt not kill "wink wink").
You probably believe that the Crusades were ok (Christians committing genocide in Spain to rid the country of the Muslims). Or that hiding pedophilia priests and allowing them to commit these acts over and over again was ok. Or how about condoning slavery for almost 2000 years and only in the last 50 years label it as bad. I believe ideas like these are pure evil and not at all in line with Jesus' teachings.
Love thy neighbor as thyself.
Turn the other cheek.
The meek shall inherit the earth.
Let those without sin cast the first stone.
Thou shalt not kill
but I guess you just wink at all of these scriptures too.

I am beginning to read some of your other stuff on this site. Point me in the right direction though as this place is hard to navigate. I see you want "world domination" *hitler*. What kind of a Christian do you call yourself again? Do you have a link to your church? I would love to see what exactly you practice.

You do not understand your own religion

I don't know where all you people come from. What planet do you live on? Why must you lob insults at me and then proceed to justify your obscene, insulting words with ignorant statements?

Please do not attempt to preach to me about what Christianity is all about. You have obviously not read the Bible if you believe what you have posted. If you have read the Bible, allow me to refresh your memory.

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

"Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

You see, sometimes a higher power (sometimes it's Jesus, other times it's a world leader such as George W. Bush) will purposely deceive you. It's a test. If you fail the test you will be condemned to an eternity in hell. It's as simple as that.

Matthew 13:49-50

"This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Clearly, this passage tells us that only the righteous Christians will be saved. All of the Scientologists, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Atheists, Protestants & Baptists will be cast into hell. We shall not turn the other cheek during this final battle.

Now, although I disagree with you on most points, I agree that slavery was wrong. Let me point out that Harry Nads does not condone slavery. However, you can not claim that Jesus was not in favour of slavery. In fact, the Bible is in favour of slavery.

Exodus 21

"If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free."

If you have a problem with the Holy Bible I suggest you go to Church and confess your sins. Please do not insult me for posting biblical verses. I did not write them, I just abide by them. You're problem is with God, not with me.

by your own definition you are going to hell

I don't understand how Christians like you can resolve all the hypocrisies... guess I'm failing his test (which by the way is just a cop out if you really think about it).

You say yourself that "If you have a problem with the Holy Bible I suggest you go to Church and confess your sins." Yet you yourself claim to "wink" at some of the inconsistencies in the Bible.
Matthew 19:24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Then you reply... "This passage goes against what Christians believe in.
However, when we quote this particular passage in Bible class, we then proceed to wink to the group."
Uh, doesn't Bush rewrite history all the time.

You say that Jesus and The Bible support slavery, yet you don't condone it. Isn't this a conflict between your belief and your God? Shouldn't YOU go to church and confess your sin that you don't believe in the word of your God?
"Every true Christian believes that every passage in the Bible must be interpreted literally and this is precisely why many of us are concerned about passages that can only be interpreted as anti Christian, Communist propaganda."
You claim "The Bible is 100% true."
You claim "The Bible espouses Communist propaganda"
Yet you somehow claim that Communism is bad? How? Isn't that a bit hypocritical? By your own definition, aren't you going to Hell for not believing the Bible 100%?

Christians like you use fear mongering to pressure people like me and other Christians into believing what you believe. You threaten me with hell and eternal damnation and I find that very wrong and quite ironic considering by your own definition you are going to hell.

Please help me understand how you can live with these hypocrisies and still claim to be a "true" Christian.

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Allow me to explain

Greetings Mr. Anonymous,

At first I was enraged by your comments but after a couple of doobies I feel much calmer so I will attempt to clear up a few things.

You said, "Uh, doesn't Bush rewrite history all the time."

I'm Canadian and my goal is to become Prime Minister of Canada. One day, Canada will conquer or absorb the United States of America. While I understand what George W. Bush's motives are and sympathize with the gigantic obstacles he faces, he means nothing to me. Therefore, I will not defend him.

You said, "You say that Jesus and The Bible support slavery, yet you don't condone it. Isn't this a conflict between your belief and your God?"

There's no conflict. Jesus lived a couple thousand years ago. I'm living today. He can not run against me and use his slavery platform to get elected. I can believe in him but choose not to support slavery at the same time.

You said, "You claim "The Bible is 100% true."
You claim "The Bible espouses Communist propaganda"
Yet you somehow claim that Communism is bad? How? Isn't that a bit hypocritical? By your own definition, aren't you going to Hell for not believing the Bible 100%?"

Short answers: Communism is evil. They brand everyone as equal and the Russian commies have attacked Santa Claus. No. No.

You said, "You threaten me with hell and eternal damnation and I find that very wrong and quite ironic considering by your own definition you are going to hell."

I didn't threaten anyone with eternal damnation, I quoted the Bible. Once again, you are misunderstanding my words. Harry Nads will undoubtedly go to heaven. In fact, by the time I die there will probably be a place superior to heaven and I will probably end up there.

You said, "Please help me understand how you can live with these hypocrisies and still claim to be a "true" Christian."

I think that my answers have cleared up any confusion you may have about both the Bible and Harry Nads. It's not too late for you to clean up your act and make it to the promised land.
